Comedy Festivals are Back and The Goddamn Comedy Jam Made Moontower a Party!!!

Colleen McGarr and her team in Austin, Texas worked under new and unprecedented circumstances to usher in the return of comedy festivals and they nailed it! Moontower Comedy Festival was overflowing with the hilarious and original programming that audiences have grown to love and expect! In a time of new strains and old fears, Josh Adam Meyers and Jeremiah Watkins from The Goddamn Comedy Jam helped keep the vibe of the festival positive and the energy high!

Some of my favorite performances were Hannah Einbinder’s hunting and soulful rendition of Styx’s hit “Lady,” Franqi French singing her heart out to Queen’s anthem, “We are the Champions,” Sal Vulcano getting everyone up dancing with Bell, Biv DeVoe’s “Poison,” and Big Jay Oakerson giving Billy Joel a run for his money with “You May Be Right.” All of these performances were worthy of landing a place in the Goddamn Comedy Jam’s “hall of fame” but there can only be one king and queen.

The King and Queen of the 2021 Moontower Comedy Festival, Goddamn Comedy Jam shows were Brad Williams and Jessica Kirson. Brad completely blew our minds with his vocal talents and rock star vibe during his performances of Pearl Jam’s “Alive” then returned to The Jam for an encore performance on Saturday and tore the roof off with his insane rendition of Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba.” I had no idea he could sing and that man has a voice that was made for the stage. I want to hear more!

Jessica Kirson made her Goddamn Comedy Jam debut but was completely in her element. Kirson’s hilarious and vocally perfect performance of the Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men!” made the entire audience lose our minds! The entire place was up dancing, while we were laughing our asses off, and even though this was her first time on the Jam, it felt as if she had done this performance one thousand times before. I’ve always said that laughter through tears is my favorite emotion but dancing while I’m laughing hysterically was a first for me and it takes the cake!

These are the types of performances comedy magic is made of!
