Child marriage in NY is a thing of the past, as New York state signed a bill raising the age of consent to marry to 18. Previously, 17 year olds could marry with parental consent, but now both parties to a marriage must be over the age of 18 in the state.

Low income housing residents paying for apartments in a new Hudson Yards high rise were told they can’t use the building’s pool, they can’t use the building’s playroom, they can’t use the building’s front door, and they can’t even use the building’s official address. Although their apartment is in the same building as the wealthy residents of 15 Hudson Yards West, they have to enter on 30th Street and must address their mail to 553 West 30th Street. The building receives a substantial tax benefit for providing low income housing and “poor doors” are illegal.
