The 5: Kaitlin Mamie’s 5 Female Comedy Albums You Need to Hear Right Now

Kaitlin Mamie is an award winning writer, director, producer, comedian, actress, and professional female Wrestler. Originally from a small town in Canada where there was nothing else to do except drink in a dirt pit on weekends, she now resides in Los Angeles. Mamie recently worked on an original project that she co-created with Bruce McCulloch from Kids in the Hall about her time living in a tent in Northern Canada. She is a co-creator and writer on three seasons of a sketch comedy series for The Trailer Park Boys’ online channel Swearnet. Kaitlin has written, produced, and starred in several short films including her most recent which was selected by Bendfilm Festival, New York World Film Festival, Paris International Film Festival, and won “Best Comedy” at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

She’s got a brand new album out now, and in celebration of that, she put together her 5 favorite female comedy albums. One of them may look familiar. Check out Kaitlin’s new album, Now That’s Crisp! at kaitlinmamie.hearnow.com.

5 Female Comedy Albums You Need To Hear Right Now

A lot of people are usually shocked to find out that some of their favorite comedians have comedy albums that they can buy and listen to. It’s just like listening to your favorite murder show podcast, except instead of gruesome deaths it’s jokes about masturbation! Apart from the old school classic Adam Sandler’s “They’re All Gonna Laugh At You,” recent comedy albums are not as appreciated and celebrated as they should be. There are a lot of albums from hilarious up-and-coming comedians (and comedians that have been around forever) that you should be listening to right now. That’s OK though, because you probably didn’t know they even existed…until NOW.

Here are my top 5 Female Comedy Albums You Need To Hear Right Now:

5. Julia Hladcowicz – Lad-Ko-Wits (Live)

Julia Hladcowicz is a Canadian comedian that’s been around for over a decade and you need to know about her. Julia’s quick wit and energetic delivery, mixed with her giddiness over Pug’s gargling at people on the street, makes this album side-splitting and unique and a MUST listen.

Favorite Quote: “…petting a penis is like petting a pony’s nose.”

4. LadyStache – So Many Wolves

Toronto comedians Steph Tolev and Allison Hogg make up the comedy duo Ladystache. This sketch comedy album will keep you in literal pain from laughing the entire time. These two ladies clearly have amazing chemistry because sometimes you’re not sure if what they are saying is scripted or if they’re just riffing and having a blast. This album is silly and oh-so-much fun. If you’re a sucker for sketch comedy—this album is a must listen.

Favorite Quote: Steph Tolev singing “Stand By Me.”

3. Emily Heller – Pasta

California-raised comedian Emily Heller’s album “Pasta” is a wonderfully funny, insightful and revealing album. The Emmy nominated writer for the dark comedy HBO hit series Barry– brings some of that twisted smart humor into the album and we are very here for it.

Favorite Quote: “If you think you don’t need therapy…tell your best friend you’re thinking about it, and see how they react”

2. Inessa Frantowski – Help Me Help Me

Inessa Frantowski is a powerhouse character comedian but also as wise as Oprah Winfrey. In this delightful album she is as authentic as they come, giving heartfelt life advice from her own misfortunes and talking about important issues in a lighthearted and chipper way. She dives deep into her own fears and helps others overcome their own but makes it OK for everyone to laugh about it. You’ll leave this album feeling brighter and peppier and ready to take on the day.

Favorite Quote: “Have you ever gone to someone else’s holiday and you realize their family is worse than yours?

1. Kaitlin Mamie – Now That’s Crisp!

Hi! It’s me, Kaitlin, from earlier. Is this shameless self promotion? It sure is. But let’s just pretend this is a big time Hollywood comedy critic writing this blurb. Can we? Shhh just shhhhhh… Here we go:

Kaitlin Mamie is a bubbly, high energy, curly blonde version of Molly Shannon from SNL. In this solo-sketch comedy album, Mamie shows off her character comedy by playing every voice on the album. Whether it’s four dudes hanging out drinking beers, or a one-on-one date on The Bachelor—-Kaitlin does them all. This album is playful, hysterical, and also just impressive. Now That’s Crisp! is a must listen…so GO! Officially being released on TUESDAY APRIL 6TH on iTunes, Spotify, and all other streaming platforms.
