Mad About You Revival is a Go But Not For Everyone

We’ve already reported about Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt coming back for a limited run revival of their gigantic hit sitcom “Mad About You,” but there was no time or place announced. Today, it was revealed that the return will air on Spectrum Originals later this year, and that Helen Hunt will direct the first episode.

Comedy Dynamics is a part of the project which is being produced by Sony Pictures with Peter Tolan showrunning, writing and EPing. CD execs Brian Volk-Weiss, Michael Pelmont, and Matthew Ochacher are EPing along with Tolan, Hunt and Reiser. Danny Jacobson who helped create the show is also on board to consult.

Reiser and Hunt released a joint statement about the project. “We are so excited to finally be doing this and thrilled to have Peter Tolan as our fearless captain. We promise you the same funny and heartwarming show – as soon as we can remember what’s funny about being older. It’s going to be great!”

Spectrum Originals announced their first original programming earlier this month. Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union will
EP and star in L.A.’s Finest for the platform which will be exclusively available to Spectrum video subscribers. Additional projects include the street race drama Curfew, co-produced with Sky UK, and the Lionsgate series Manhunt.

Mad About You originally aired on NBC from 1992 to 1992.

Spectrum Originals shows will be available to Charter Spectrum video subscribers on-demand and ad free.
