Jeff Ross and Friends Will Dress Up and Roast Historical Figures for Netflix
Netflix is making another grab in an area previously dominated by Comedy Central- they just ordered a run of episodes of a Jeffrey Ross helmed roast show.
Deadline is reporting that Netflix ordered a run of episodes of “Historical Roasts” inspired by Ross’ ongoing live show. In each episode, big named comedians roast famous figures from history, while dressed in period-appropriate costumes.
Ross is undeniably the reigning king of the roast- if there’s a roast show heading to television, you can bet Ross is involved. Whether it’s Comedy Central’s Roast series, and then there’s Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle, and some comedy special style Ross-only crowd work hours where Ross roasts the audience. Historical Roasts could include political figures like Abraham Lincoln, entertainment figures like Jimmy Hendrix or literary figures like William Shakespeare.
The show is expected to launch in 2019.
