SNL Announces Head Writers for Season 44

Well it’s not much of an announcement but Saturday Night Live has announced that the season 44 head writer team will be almost exactly the same as season 43’s head writing team.

Michael Che, Colin Jost, and Kent Sublette will all return to their prior co-head writer positions. Last year there were four head writers. This year, it looks like they’re sticking with three. Bryan Tucker will no longer share that responsibility. He’s staying with the writing team, but will step down to a senior writer position this year. No new additions to the head position were announced.

We haven’t heard of too many changes to the writing staff or the cast this year. Other than cutting first year featured player Luke Null from the roster, we haven’t heard much at all from Team SNL. The show returns live on September 29th, that’s just a few weeks away, and we still are waiting on word of who is hosting and who will be musical guest.

Maybe everyone’s just focused on helping Che and Jost crush their duties as hosts of this Sunday night’s Emmy telecast. Had the chance to listen to Michael Che run some of his jokes for the Emmys at the Cellar this week, and this promises to be an Emmy broadcast comedy fans won’t want to miss.

Stay tuned.
