Pete Davidson cleared out his Instagram closet, deleting everything on Monday. Although Pete says there’s no meaning behind it other than he doesn’t want to waste his energy on a negative platform, the gossip columns all are playing internet detective to piece together what it all means. Here’s what they have collectively observed.
Fact 1: Pete Davidson posted a comment on a photo of fiance Ariana Grande and her grandfather who passed away four years ago. He wrote “omg what a cutie”. Fans respond unfavorably accusing Davidson of fawning over his fiance inappropriate, and indiscriminately in a post that isn’t about cuteness.
Fact 2: Davidson gets upset saying he was calling her grandfather a cutie, not Ariana. Writes “Are you guys all insane? I was talking about how cute her grandpa is. What’s wrong with that? You guys will really look for anything to attack people. It’s sad.”
Fact 3: Ariana gets upset, posting “Wow some people only try to make @petedavidson look bad! You can clearly see that he was talking about her grandpa who sadly passed away 4 years ago! It’s super annoying that both @arianagrande and @petedavidson have to defend themselves and their relationship all the time…”
Fact 4: Pete deletes his Instagram stream entirely.

Fact 6: Pete wrote in an Instagram story republished by a fan account., “No there’s nothing wrong. No nothing happened. No there’s nothing cryptic about anything. I just don’t wanna be on Instagram anymore. Or on any social media platform,” he wrote. “The internet is an evil place and it doesn’t make me feel good. Why should I spend any time on negative energy when my real life is f—ing lit. The fact that I even have to say this proves my point.
