There’s only one animated series that is so popular that it could carry such a big re-order, and that’s obviously Rick and Morty. To put into perspective how big of an order that actually is, the show’s three season run has only aired 31 episodes so far, so Adult Swim is really banking on the fact that fans aren’t going to tire quickly of their beloved animated duo and the universe they inhabit.
Rick and Morty’s popularity has been explosive with fans, who prove their loyalty in many ways including lining up outside of McDonalds all across America just to get a limited run sauce that Rick references in the show. The characters also inspired their own porn parody, brought an insane courtroom transcript to life, appeared on a Simpsons couch gag, and scored a Carl’s Jr. ad. It’s been an explosive ride for the entire team, and they’re just getting started.
If you’re not on the Rick and Morty train yet, the series hails from creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland. The Season 3 finale was the highest rated in the history of Adult Swim, and the show is the #1 comedy across all television with millennials. The show premiered in December 2013, and just wrapped its season 3 run.
