Richard Linklater Asks You To Pull Down Your Pants for Equal Rights in New PSA

Richard Linklater, the director who brought you Boyhood, Dazed and Confused, Slacker, School of Rock, Everybody Wants Some and the Before/After trilogy is asking Texans to sit down to take a stand and fight the Texas Privacy Act. He produced a new video for the ACLU of Texas asking everyone to Pee with LGBT.
“This is not a privacy issue,” the video explains. Pee with LGBT, because “money should be spent keeping kids in school, not out of bathrooms,” because the bill discriminates, and “because we damn sure don’t want to end up like North Carolina.”
The Texas Privacy Act, known as SB6, seeks to ban transgender individuals from using the bathroom of the gender with which they identify, and this PSA seeks to educate people to vote against the act. The PSA makes a plea to voters’ sense of equality, and for those who aren’t quite as liberally minded, the video warns about the economic repercussions of following North Carolina’s lead.
