Exclusive! New Gina Yashere Hour Special is Coming to Seeso!
We’re excited to announce that Seeso is about to release yet another killer special on the platform. Gina Yashere will premiere her all-new stand up special, Ticking Boxes this month.
The hour was filmed at the iconic O2 Academy in Brixton, UK, in front of 2000 fans. Yashere told us last spring that she named the special Ticking Boxes because in order to explain herself as a black, English, female, African, gay comic you’d have to check off many boxes. Throughout the hour she tells stories about her origins as a London-born Nigerian, being suspected of drug trafficking in Indonesia and her battles with sleep apnea among other things. Yashere’s outspoken fearless comedy landed her a spot at last year’s wildly popular Nasty Show at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival. Gina shared her position on offensive comedy last year on an appearance on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. She said you can joke about anything as long as it’s not just gratuitous and for shock value. If you are willing to do the joke in front of the people you are talking about, it passes her test. So you can expect to hear it all in her new special- she won’t be holding back.
Gina is a giant talent, named one of the Top 10 Rising Talents by the Hollywood Reporter, she was a top 10 finalist on Last Comic Standing, and you’ve seen her on Def Comedy Jam, Conan, Chelsea Lately, Search Party and she appears in the new HBO series Crashing, premiering later this month.
You can see her new hour, Ticking Boxes, exclusively on Seeso premiering on February 16th. Seeso has become a power player in the hour special game, with big game changing releases this past year from some amazing comics including Doug Stanhope, Laurie Kilmartin, Jena Friedman, Janeane Garofalo, and Joey CoCo Diaz.
