Kevin Hart Dropped In at The Stand Comedy Club Friday Night

Friday night, the 8:00 audience at The Stand Comedy Club in New York City got a big surprise. The biggest comedy star in the world- Kevin Hart made a surprise drop in at the end of the 8:00 show.
Ron Bennington brought Hart up on stage, telling two audience members that he had a birthday surprise for them. When he announced that Hart was coming up, the crowd went crazy, and everyone in the club was excited to see him, with staff members cramming down the back stairs for a peek and comics squeezing into the back of an already packed house. Kevin walked on stage wearing a black ski hat, black jacket, and scruffy beard and immediately explained his unkempt appearance. “I just want everyone to know I’m oh-kay,” Hart said getting a huge laugh. “I’m doing a movie, in Philly and New York,” Hart explained. “I’m playing a convict.” Although he didn’t specify, he’s obviously referring to filming on The Untouchables. He co-stars with Bryan Cranston and the two have been spotted filming in Center City, Philadelphia.

This was Hart’s first time at The Stand. He told the audience, “I’ve been hearing so many great things about this club,” he said “I had to stop in.” He promised to be back very soon. Hart launched into 20 minute set telling stories about his home life, being a dad, his dog, and a hilarious extended story about a really great baby, and then before going into one last story, he shouted out to the back of the room to someone in his posse, “Harold! You getting this?” and “Brilliant stuff” he said referring to the last few stories and jokes he had told. Rumor has it Hart’s working on material for a project he’s planning to record sometime soon which is exciting news for Hart’s stand up fans because there had been murmurs that he might be taking some time off from stand up. But this isn’t for a new movie, Hart’s in pre-production on an “Untitled Kevin Hart Stand Up Project” for television, possibly for his own Laugh Out Loud network.
Before starting his last story, Hart told the audience to bear with him, because he didn’t have a punchline just yet. “Y’all want to know how it gets done, this is how it gets done.” he told them showing off the process of putting together material.
By the end of his set, the audience looked exhausted from laughing. Kevin spent about 20 minutes on stage, and the audience had already seen a killer show that included Bennington, Aida Rodriguez, Dan Soder, Mike Vecchione, Todd Barry, and Wyatt Cenac.
And then as quickly as he appeared, Hart disappeared into the night with his entourage, stopping to take a photo with one fan on the stairs on his way out.
Hart’s been popping in at clubs all over New York City this week working out his material. There are Instagram photos of Hart at the New York Comedy Cellar, the Fat Black Pussy Cat, and at least one bar show in Brooklyn.
