The charity extravaganza Red Nose Day is comparatively young in America, but garnered over $60 million in its first two years and its third year is approaching. Launched by UK charity Comic Relief Inc., which has been behind the monstrous hit annual event for over 25 years internationally, Red Nose Day is a national campaign to raise money for programs keeping children in poverty engaged and safe. The campaign has scads of celebrities, iconic red noses for purchase at Walgreens and Duane Reade drug stores and culminates with the “Red Nose Day Special” in conjunction with NBC.

The hugeness of Red Nose Day can’t really be overstated. The campaign has raised more than $1 billion in its international history and works with other heavyweight charities, like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In the mere two years Red Nose Day’s been in the States, comedians like Tracy Morgan, Ellen DeGeneres, Craig Ferguson, Will Ferrell, Jay Leno, Seth Meyers, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd and the eternally wonderful Jordan Peele have been just a few that lent their talents. Details on programming and the line-up for the “Red Nose Day Special” have not yet been released, but it will all take place on Thursday, May 25th.
