SNL Scores Huge with Dave Chappelle Hosting and A Tribe Called Quest

If you’re wondering how Saturday Night Live can possibly keep its momentum going after the election, here is your answer.
There’s really nothing to click here. It’s all in the headline unless you’re trying to figure out why we’re so excited. To most of you, it will be obvious. November 12th Dave Chappelle will host Saturday Night Live. Despite being one of the most iconic and sometimes elusive figures performing comedy right now, Chappelle has never graced the SNL stage, and that alone would make this a gigantic announcement. But what’s really exciting about Chappelle hosting SNL is his ethic and the inability for “the industry” to use money or fame to lure Chappelle to do anything he doesn’t want to do.
SNL has had a solid season so far, but we think we’ll see Lorne’s A-team step up their game when Chappelle’s in the room. And if that doesn’t happen, the opportunity to see Chappelle step out of his own Chappelle-ness is equally irresistible. No, you’ll never see a Davey Pumpkins, but no matter what we get, this is a must see episode.
But wait, it gets even better. Joining Chappelle as musical guest is the band A Tribe Call Quest, who are on the verge of releasing their first album in over 18 years.
Recently on the Bennington Show comedian, Tom Rhodes told stories of a big party he hit up with both Chappelle and A Tribe Called Quest. We don’t know if that party was a celebration of the big event or maybe that’s where the idea came up, but if that party was the preview of the show we’re going to get on November 12, then we’re all in for a raucous show.
Chappelle of course, known for his stand up and his infamous decision to leave the Chappelle Show right at what would have been the peak of any other career.
Tune in November 12 on NBC at 11:30pm.
