Who’s Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: October 8, 2016

Broadway sensation and newly dubbed pop culture icon Lin-Manuel Miranda is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight. It’s his first time hosting SNL, and he’s extremely excited. The Tony winning creator of the hotter than hot hip hop Broadway musical Hamilton is beyond excited to host Saturday Night Live- a show he says he has watched religiously since he was a kid.
Earlier this week, presumably during rehearsals, Miranda tweeted out loving respect to a favorite cast member, Phil Hartman. Having discovered a pair of shoes marked Phil, Lin-Manuel tweeted a photo captioned “impossible to fill.”

Last week SNL and Hamilton fans were treated to a Cecily Strong impression of Lin-Manuel in a Family Feud sketch. This week we don’t know what we’ll see, but we’re expecting some hip hop musical sketches. It’s a good bet that Alec Baldwin is suiting up tonight for a Cold Open that will undoubtedly focus on the recently released Trump/Billy Bush 2005 audio.
In a series of promo videos filmed at Bill’s Bar & Burger in Rockefeller Center, Lin-Manuel Miranda tells Cecily Strong that he can’t get tickets to see Hamilton. Strong says that she’s a giant fan. Maybe too big. This isn’t going well at all.
Another promotional video focuses on the line outside of SNL for stand-by tickets which appears to be longer than usual, so Lin-Manuel hit up the the line with a bullhorn and promises of pizza for the crowd. Watch that clip below.
The official ‘from the stage promo clip’ shows Aidy Bryant trying to hip hop her way through the promo with musical guest Twenty One Pilots looking on. There’s going to be a lot of singing this week. Hip hop singing. Brace yourselves.
