The second worst thing that can happen for a late night show staff is for big news to break on Friday, when their next show doesn’t air until Monday.  With everyone itching to tackle the story while it’s still fresh news, Samantha Bee wasted no time making and releasing a parody video.

But the absolute worst thing is for that big viral huge news to break before your show airs on Friday night, but after you already pre-taped the show that will air.  It’s bad enough that the monologue won’t mention the new news, but it’s even worse if your monologue is based on Trump not respecting women.  That’s what happened to Stephen Colbert, so as a little band-aid, Colbert recorded a video at home explaining. “We did not know that today, this afternoon there would be an audio release of the mother lode; the El Dorado of Donald Trump misogyny gold,” Colbert explains.

After setting up Friday’s show in the video, Colbert donned headphones and listened to the viral video, and reacted.

Weaker than Bee’s parody, Colbert’s video shows the host mildly reacting and adding a few light comments like “who’s Nancy?” and “what does ‘move’ mean?”

A few sighs later, he wraps saying, “Here’s what I really found disgusting. Trump says in the video, when you’re a star, they let you get away with anything. And unfortunately that’s true, because Donald Trump is the Republican nominee. And hopefully someday he’ll be telling the story about how he tried to fuck America and failed.”

Colbert also released a string of tweet reactions.  Scroll down to watch the video below.
