Tommy Chong is Not Dead
Tommy Chong, a legend in the comedy world, was the latest victim of internet rumors that he had passed away. First, a Facebook post that went viral alleged that the comedian had committed suicide, and later there were reports that while the suicide rumor was false, the comedian had succumbed to cancer.
But as with a long list of celeb death hoaxes, rumors of Tommy Chong’s demise were greatly exaggerated. The performer is alive and well and released a video that promised, “I’m still here. I’m stoned, but I’m not dead.” In fact, he’d been tweeting all day Thursday while the rumors swirled that he was no longer with us, and just a few hours earlier TMZ posted video of Chong getting high with UFC fighter Nick Diaz.
Tommy’s wife, Shelby, posted thanks for the unnecessary and way premature condolences.
Chong is 78 and continues to perform.
