21 Half Hour Comedy Scripts Accepted For First Annual Scripts Competition
This year the New York Television Festival has announced its first ever, NYTVF Scripts Competition.
Almost 1,000 hopeful TV writers submitted scripts to the new competition which focuses on comedy writing for television and digital programming, and 21 scripts have been selected. These scripts and their writers will get to showcase their work at the annual festival which takes place every October in New York City, where they will compete for development deals and get to network with and pitch to industry. Since 2005, the annual festival has been exposing new independent talent to buyers, agents, managers, development executives, networks and other industry players in October and throughout the year with seminars, showcases and more.
The new competition which focuses on unproduced scripts joins the festival’s flagship event- the Independent Pilot Competition, which announced its 63 selections earlier this week including projects created by some familiar names like Steve Dildarian, Horatio Sanz, Paul F. Tompkins, Ian Roberts, Katie Rich, and Mike O’Brien, among others.
