Lawsuit Says Ed Sheeran Ripped Off Marvin Gaye

Ed Townsend, the composer and co-writer of Marvin Gaye’s hit song “Lets Get it On” has filed a lawsuit against Ed Sheeran, claiming he ripped off the late R&B legend’s “Lets Get It On” with his hit song “Thinking Out Loud”. “The defendants copied the ‘heart’ of ‘Let’s’ and repeated it continuously throughout Thinking,” and “The melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic compositions of Thinking are substantially and/or strikingly similar to the drum composition of ‘Let’s.’” Sheeran is considering joining a support group run by Robin Thicke and Pharrell.
