Jon Stewart Takes Over Late Show Desk; Crowd Goes Crazy
A bearded, tanned and casually dressed Jon Stewart made a surprise appearance during the Late Show’s live RNC coverage Thursday night.
Just as Stephen Colbert began to talk about the latest Roger Ailes news, the crowd erupted as Jon Stewart appeared beside Colbert at his desk. Stewart told the crowd that normally he’s asleep at this time of night and asked if he could talk about the election a little bit, and if Colbert would mind if he took over the desk. With some help from his friend, he found himself in a jacket with a clip on tie, turned to the audience and said “Hello, how are you?” before calling Trump an angry vomiting groundhog.
Stewart spent the next ten minutes talking about the Republican plan for America, conservative gymnastics, Fox News, Sean Hannity, teleprompters, inexperience, divisiveness, and of course, Trump. There were clips, laughs, catchphrases, singing, air horns, hugs, and too many applause breaks to count.
