George Takei Not Happy That New Sulu Is Gay

Although George Takei has been a huge supporter of LGBT rights since he came out in 2005, he is not happy about the character that made him famous being gay in the current movie incarnation of Star Trek. Takei has said that “Unfortunately, it’s a twisting of Gene’s creation, to which he put in so much thought” and that he thinks “it’s really unfortunate” although he is still really happy that the franchise will have a gay character. Just relax and set your phaser to fabulous George, it’s a new frontier.
