When people use UberPool, it doesn’t tell you if there’s a surge happening or not, but it does give a price quote. Uber has noticed that usage drops when they alert you of a surge, so they’re playing with not telling you at all, just giving you a quote. Now you’ll never know you’re getting completely screwed while taking your cab, but you won’t care because you still won’t have to physically touch money at the end of the ride still.
