Will Ferrell to Lead North Pole Expedition Comedy
Variety is reporting that Will Ferrell will be the centerpiece of a buddy comedy movie about a 1968 Arctic expedition when some buddies from Minnesota got drunk and decided to ride snowmobiles in search of the North Pole.
The buddies were an insurance salesman, a dctor, a Honda dealer, an athletic French Canadian, and a geography teacher. After being turned down by organized sponsors including the National Geographic Society, they did it on their own. Spoiler Alert: they made it. The idea is somewhat City Slicker-ish. A group of guys who don’t quite know what they’re doing, but have all the heart in the world, and of course hilarity is expected to ensue.
An article authored by Guy Lawson for New York Times Magazine will serve as the basis of the film. Sony pictures and producers producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen will helm.
