Jimmy Carr Stand Up on The Tonight Show

Everyone’s been talking about Jimmy Carr this year.  He killed at Just for Laughs this year in Montreal, both at the Roastmasters roast battle event, and at the Naughty Show. As you can imagine, clean material isn’t what he’s known for, but he absolutely crushed last night on the Tonight Show with one liners, quips and short stories.  Yes, Carr worked a little blue, bringing out a really funny asshole joke early on.  No groans on that one but he oddly got some moans from the crowd for one of his jokes that mentioned harming pedestrians. But they were moaning with love– we think. No word on whether that a-bomb was preapproved or not– they bleeped it– but at least they didn’t cut the joke.  Carr also offered a new way to try to get out of a traffic ticket.

Fallon’s team did a pretape with him in the dressing room, asking Carr to share his “worst I ever bombed” story. Of course he didn’t have one- he’s Jimmy Carr- but he did share an interesting story about trying to do clean comedy at a gig during the Queen’s Jubilee.

Carr also made some news earlier this year when he broke the news of David Bowie’s death to his audience during an intermission in his show.  He later played Bowie’s Heroes as the audience left.

Carr’s first U.S. one hour special debuted today. You can watch “Jimmy Carr: Funny Business” on Netflix now. Carr is also on tour, performing in Boston and New York city next weekend, and at Moontower, Largo and in San Francisco and Toronto in April. Check dates at JimmyCarr.com.
