Jim Gaffigan just landed his first voice role in a major kids movie, leaving us to wonder what took so long? We’ve always thought Gaffigan– whose done voice over and done movies– seemed like the perfect voice for one of these mega hit kids flicks filled with celebrity voices.

Original Force Animation just grabbed Gaffigan for their first animated feature Duck Duck Goose. Gaffigan will voice the lead role- a rebellious but lovable goose, Peng. Carl Reiner was also just announced to voice Peng’s turtle buddy Larry. The story follows Peng’s adventures as a high flying bachelor whose life changes after an injury grounds him.

Gaffigan and Reiner join an all star cast. Already on board are Stephen Fry, Jennifer Grey, Molly Shannon, Greg Proops, and Rick Overton.

Original Force Animation is planning three animated features. “We could not be more thrilled to have Jim Gaffigan and Carl Reiner adding their comedic talent to our film,” said OFA co-presidents Sandra Rabins and Penney Finkelman Cox. “We love the way this cast has come together and we are enormously excited that their work will be given additional heart and soul through the magic of Mark Isham’s score.” Added director Christopher Jenkins, “With the comic talent of Jim Gaffigan and Carl Reiner you stand back and let the jokes come. It’s a complete thrill to work with talent of this caliber. Add to that the sparkling musical talent of composer Mark Isham and it’s easy to see how we have something special coming together.”

Gaffigan is a multi-media force- already one of the stop headliners in the stand up business with multiple specials and albums to his credit, several bestselling books, and a smart edgy funny and critically acclaimed television show, The Jim Gaffigan Show, now in its second season on TV Land. He also performed for the Pope this year, and became one of only ten comics ever to sell out Madison Square Garden. Gaffigan’s most recent album, Obsessed was nominated for a Grammy and based on a special that debuted at #1 on iTunes.
