Rex Ryan, who she has been with for 7 years decided she earned a push to the next level and Smith will now become the first full time female NFL coach as a special teams quality control coach. Rex said “Kathryn has been working in a football administrative role and assisted the assistant coaches for years. She has proven that she’s ready for the next step, so I’m excited and proud for her with this opportunity. She will work with [special teams coordinator] Danny Crossman and [special teams assistant] Eric Smith involving a number of responsibilities.” Congratulations to Kathryn Smith and remember, no matter what Rex tells you, there is no part of coaching that requires you to take off your shoes.
