Bill Cosby Charged With Criminal Sexual Assault

According to Deadline.com, a Pennsylvania prosecutor has charged Bill Cosby with aggravated felony assault related to the sexual assault of Andrea Constand in 2004. He will be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon by the Montgomery County district attorney’s office in Elkins Park.
Ms. Constand has alleged that Cosby assaulted her at his home in 2004. The former employee of Temple University settled a civil suit with Cosby in 2006 subject to a confidentiality agreement.
This is the first time criminal charges have ever been brought against Cosby who has been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting dozens of women. Although allegations of criminal assault have been made against Cosby for years, the public didn’t begin taking the allegations seriously until October 2014 when a recording of comedian Hannibal Buress’ joke about Cosby went viral.
Kevin Steele, Assistant District Attorney revealed details at a televised press conference Wednesday morning. He said that they after determining that the statute of limitations had not yet expired, Montgomery County detectives and prosecutors reopened the investigation. After reviewing the initial investigation, re-interviewing witnesses, and examining evidence from the civil case, as well as talking to other alleged victims, Steele said, they determined they have enough evidence to charge Cosby with felony assault.
