NFL Wants San Francisco To Get Rid Of Its Iconic Trolleys
Super Bowl L is coming to the Bay Area this February, and as usual the NFL is flexing its muscle with the local municipalities. One of their demands is “Super Bowl City,” a collection of brands taking up Market Street. But they don’t like those overhead wires that power the famous trolleys on that avenue, so they want San Francisco to remove them, which is an estimated seven-figure job that will also inconvenience residents for weeks before and after the game. Keep in mind this is for a game that’s being held way down south in Santa Clara.
While they were at it, why not also tell the city they don’t like that bridge’s gaudy orange color, and that they need to tear down “those old buildings on the island that nobody’s used for years.”
