Robin Williams Widow Shares Details About Robins Death

Tuesday ABC aired an interview with Robin Williams widow, Susan Williams. Her conversations with ABC about Williams death revealed new details about his last days. Susan said he had been suffering for over a year from an endless parade of seemingly unconnected symptoms. In May, Robin was diagnosed with early Parkinsons’ disease. She said his symptoms ranged from stomach pain, to paranoia, and she described an event when Robin had injured himself, hitting his head on a door leaving him bleeding profusely.
Susan said as far as she knew, Robin wasn’t suicidal, but he was suffering from depression, confusion, and other symptoms stemming from a complex illness called Lewy Body Dementia. She said he was losing his mind, and he was aware of it.
The week before his death he was scheduled to be checked into a facility where he could receive more help. Williams said she believed that his suicide was his way of taking control over his situation. The night before his death, she said, he seemed to have clarity and she thought things were okay.
Susan Williams learned of Robin’s death from his assistant. She said she raced home to tell him she forgave him for taking his own life.
