Yahoo! Claimed 15M Viewers For Bills-Jags, BUT…
This morning, Yahoo! sent out a press release claiming there were over 33 million streams, or 15.2 million unique viewers, of Sunday’s NFL game from Wembley, the first game to be internet-exclusive outside of the home markets. That’s a monumental achievement…if it were true. Problem is, those numbers are skewed by the fact the video was autoplayed on Yahoo! and Tumblr’s homepages. So if you checked your mail or blogged about comic books Sunday morning, you technically watched the Bills and Jaguars. So what’s the real number? CNN estimates closer to 2.36M, but according to Sports Business
Daily’s John Ourand:
The Yahoo NFL game pulled a 1.64M average minute audience in the USA. The previous low for a national US game was 1.9M for a game on NFLN.
