Andy Kaufman and Redd Foxx to Tour Next Year

Holograms USA has announced that Andy Kaufman and Redd Foxx will perform again, in 2016 thanks to holographic technology (and their ability to obtain the rights to their performances). Instead of watching old performances on DVD or television, it is hoped that the holographic performance will allow you to sit in a theater and experience what it might have been like to be in the audience at the original performances. Viewers who can’t make it to the cities exhibiting the holographic performances will be able to watch online broadcasts of the comedy shows.
Mr. David, a billionaire entrepreneur, said in an interview with the New York Times that the company is working to gain the rights of other comedy performers and that Foxx and Kaufman are just the beginning. “There are an awful lot of dead celebrities,” he told the Times. “There are an awful lot of dead people with a lot of followers. The fresher the memory, the bigger the star.”
Michael Kaufman, who represents Kaufman’s estate told the New York Times that he felt a hologram show was a great way for the next generation to discover Kaufman’s work. “This keeps him alive” he said.
