Rose McGowan Releases New NSFW Single, Says She ‘Hated Acting’

Following in the footsteps of Don Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, and David Hasselhoff, Rose McGowan is looking to launch a career in music. The veteran actress – best known for her roles in Grindhouse, Scream, The Doom Generation and the TV series Charmed – released her first single ‘RM486’ today and it’s accompanying video already has the web buzzing.

Directed by acclaimed director Jonas Åkerlund (who also did Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ video), McGowan portrays a variety of odd personalities including a topless alien. In an interview with Nowness, McGowan says that ‘released some under different names’ in the past, but decided to make a full leap into music when she realized that she ‘hated acting and that I’d always hated it.’ McGowan blames sexism for displeasure for acting citing that in Hollywood, ‘its predominantly men whose scripts get done so it was mostly a male voice coming out of my mouth for fifteen years’. McGowan also doesn’t shy away from the nudity in the clip saying that ‘it’s important for bodies to be represented in a non-sexual manner, especially women’s bodies.”

Will Rose McGowan the singer have as much success as Rose McGowan the actress? Check out the NSFW clip and decide for yourself:
