Tonight Stephen Colbert will make his long awaited and highly anticipated debut as host of the Late Show, and ticket holders arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York as early as 7am to get in line to witness the moment in Late Night history.

It was over 90 degrees in New York today but pages were on hand distributing bottles of Col’ Brew to the lucky ticket holders most of whom scored their tickets via twitter.  Deadline, Variety and the New York Post were just a few of the media outlets on hand interviewing people in line.

George Clooney was the first celebrity to be spotted arriving around 11am, to pretape a segment, according to the Post.  Colbert arrived soon after at noon, and Jeb Bush checked in around 4pm.  The taping began around 5pm, and the premiere show will air at 11:35 tonight.  Late Show twitter warned that you’ll want to set your DVRs to run a little long tonight if you’re not watching live.

Nearby deli owner Rupert Jee who was a big part of the Late Show with David Letterman was asked by multiple news outlets whether he’ll be a part of the new show. He said that he hasn’t been approached and understands that the new show might want to start fresh and so he understands if he’s not included.  He told Variety that he has met Colbert and he was very nice, and he has already unveiled a sandwich named after his new neighbor. The Stephen Colbert will include a chicken cutlet and sweet peppers.

Fellow Late Night host Jimmy Fallon tweeted well wishes, saying “break a finger” to the new Late Show.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert premieres at 11:35pm ET.
