Lucille Ball Biopic Has It’s Star
Variety is reporting that two time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will star as Lucille Ball in a biopic that Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. are producing along with Escape Artist Films. The film has yet to sign a writer, but Aaron Sorkin is in talks to pen the script.
Ball is widely considered one of the funniest comedic voices of all time, and was named one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century by Time magazine and TV Guide voted Ball the Greatest TV Star of All Time.
Blanchett’s portrayal of Katherine Hepburn earned her an Academy Award for the film “The Aviator” and she recieved a second Oscar for the role of Jasmine in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine.”
The film is expected to focus on Lucy’s marriage to Desi Arnaz from 1940 to 1960, and their creation of “I Love Lucy.”
