NFL Redzone Viewers Skip 39 Hours Of Commercials Each Season
So one notable aspect of the NFL’s Redzone Channel is the fact there’s no commercials. That means subscribers don’t see the revenue-making ads that Fox and CBS rely on. So how many adverts does the average Redzone viewer avoid? According to Advertising Age’s Anthony Crupi, it adds up to 38 hours and 45 minutes. That’s right: almost a work week’s worth of commercials. That’s based on the fact the average Sunday NFL game broadcast is comprised of 63 minutes of commercials, or 21 minutes an hour (compared to the usual 15). But with the low number of Redzone subs and the fact the afternoon networks are still raking in $35M-$50M, you can see why no one’s complaining.
