George Lopez Gets TV Land Series

TV Land has signed George Lopez to star in Lopez, a single-camera comedy that will premiere in 2016. Lopez will both star in and executive produce the series. The show, which has been signed for 12 episodes, will be semi-autobiographical.

According to Hollywood Reporter, George Lopez will play a version of himself, a successful Hispanic-American comic. Lopez will explore “how he struggles between his two worlds and crises — often of his own making. Too rich to go back to his working-class Latino roots and too ‘brown’ to feel comfortable in his affluent celebrity life, being George Lopez comes with many problems.”

George Lopez still has a substantial TV following. His prior series, George Lopez originally ran from 2002-2008, and is a fan-favorite on Nick at Nite.
