With Deflategate Under Fire, Bullygate Is Back In The News
Ted Wells’ report on the most annoying scandal in sports is currently at the center of a lawsuit between Tom Brady and the NFL. But with everyone questioning that investigation, his previous one will be disputed in court as well. Former Dolphins O-line coach Jim Turner was fired after the release of Wells’ report on Bullygate, the month-long media firestorm over texts between Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito. Now Turner has filed a defamation lawsuit against Wells, claiming his report placed a lot of blame on Turner which cost him his job. He insists the allegations were not true, and Wells was aware of that. This follows Richie Incognito’s comments last week, where he claimed a lot of evidence in his favor was left out to fit Wells’ agenda. Like Brady’s attorneys, Incognito blasted the notion of an investigator paid by the league being impartial.
Of course, criticizing the NFL’s investigators might be a little unfair. After all, they did get ahold of that Ray Rice tape wh- never mind.
