Better Call Saul, Inside Amy Schumer Grab Big Honors at Television Critics Awards

Better Call Saul may not be defined as a comedy show but we’re not bound by those institutional labels maaan.  As far as we’re concerned there’s plenty of comedy. So congratulations are definitely in order for the very funny Bob Odenkirk helmed show for winning Outstanding New Program of the Year last night at the Television Critics Awards.

James Corden hosted the awards and handed two big awards to Amy Schumer, even though she wasn’t there to receive them, Deadline Reports.  Was it only a year ago that we were writing articles about why Inside Amy Schumer should win every Emmy and some thought we were exaggerating? Amy was given an award for Individual Achievement in Comedy, and Inside Amy Schumer received honors for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.

John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight received an award for Outstanding News and Information Program, (aww maybe next year Jon Stewart), which he accepted with a John Oliver-esque takedown of the idea that he would get an award for being a News and Information Program when places like 60 Minutes exist.

James L. Brooks, whose career television achievements include The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Taxi and The Simpsons among others took home a Career Achievement Award,  and the TCA’s Heritage Award went to both the Late Show and Late Night with David Letterman.
