Colin Quinn and Jon Stewart Try to Fix Everything

Colin Quinn made a huge entrance on The Daily Show last night- he did a little turn, a little razzle dazzle, and kills. Everything goes downhill from there, but in the best possible way. Watch the entire interview because you won’t want to miss two of the smartest and funniest guys in America, Colin and Jon, continue to fail to connect with the audience in the most hysterical ways possible.
Stewart gives Colin’s new book, “The Coloring Book” huge love right off the bat. When Jon Stewart says “thank you” for your book before you even start talking, you’ve accomplished something important. Unfortunately the compliment was limited, because as Jon told Colin, “you have solved America’s maybe most devastating and urgent issue, race, by using America’s least influential medium– the book.”
When Stewart asks, “Why didn’t you make a vine?” Colin tries a Periscope joke, and we learn that Periscope might only be important to like ten people in America because the you could hear the puzzled looks on the audiences faces. Even Stewart had no idea what CQ was talking about.
Once a periscope joke dies, it’s probably a bad idea to bring up Dylan Thomas jokes next, but Stewart just dove right in. If you think that missed with the audience, just wait for Colin’s “well-structured joke.”
But Colin is so smart, he not only can solve race relations in America, he can also help fix the Daily Show audience.
Jon: The minute you stop the music or video entertainment, three seconds in it’s just them staring judgmentally.
Colin: Well it’s a good point, I guess you might say, stop hyping them with too much music and video. Maybe start out with this part and then go to the music and video later. I dunno, I’m not a producer.
Colin dropped the news that he’s performing material from the book, and more all summer long at the Cherry Lane, calling the show “The New York Show.” Get the book, America, then get tickets at the Cherry. And maybe, just maybe we have a chance of fixing everything.
