Bob’s Burgers Writer Raises Over 23K For Charity To Suffer Through ‘Entourage’ Movie

Bob’s Burgers writer Wendy Molyneux loathed Entourage on HBO. Her hatred was so intense that she joked to her husband that someone would have to pay her $10,000 to see the upcoming film version.

Two months ago, Molyenux set up a GoFundMe drive, with a $10,000 minimum to force her to buy a ticket “to see the worst movie of the year and possibly our lifetime.” All of the proceeds from the fundraiser go to CureSearch, a nonprofit that focuses on pediatric cancer research. Molyneux hoped to raise a few hundred dollars for CureSearch and also hoped that she would not have to see the film. She said in her GoFundMe page:

“If I make $9,999, will I see Entourage? No, no I won’t. I hope you don’t give any money, honestly, because of how much I hate Entourage. Okay, it’s your decision. Cancer and me not seeing Entourage, or forcing me to see Entourage in a THEATER FULL OF PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WANT TO SEE ENTOURAGE and money to cure pediatric cancers.”

Molyneux did not expect the drive to spread like it did. She raised over $10,000 in one day. Currently, she has raised over $23,000 in five days for CureSearch. Celebrity donors include Eric Stonestreet, Eugene Mirman, Megan Mullally, Christina Applegate, and Nick Offerman. In addition, Jerry Ferrara aka “Turtle” jumped into the fun.

After this donation, Molyneux said: “I am now endorsing everyone seeing the Entourage movie, but keeping their eyes closed except for the Turtle parts.” As the money kept pouring in after she raised the 10k goal, Molyneux kept raising the incentives. She promised that if the drive raised $15,000, which it did, she would drink from her sister’s custom-made “Turtle” cup. She promised to see the movie twice if it reached $20,000, which it did. Now, she has promised to suffer through the movie four times if the fundraising page raises $30,000 for cancer research.

She jokingly told the Hollywood Reporter that the success of the page taught her one thing: “Apparently the world is full of absolute monsters who would rather help find a cure for pediatric cancers than prevent me from seeing Ari Gold riding around on a white tiger eating sushi and money with Lloyd — I assume that’s what this movie is about. Whatever, humanity!” On a serious note, she added that the cause is close to her heart, as she lost her nephew to leukemia two years ago.
