T.J. Miller To Host The Golden Trailer Awards
T.J. Miller is becoming the go-to host for awards shows. He’ll be back in his tuxedo for the 16th Annual Golden Trailer Awards on Wednesday, May 6th, at 8pm at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. In February, the star of HBO’s “Silicon Valley” hosted the TechCrunch Crunchies Awards program in San Francisco which celebrated innovations in star-up companies, technology and online.
The Golden Trailers honor film and television marketing campaign execs and the advertising agencies and companies that create movie trailers, posters and commercials. Executive director Evelyn Watters said, “The Golden Trailer Awards recognize excellence in entertainment marketing and these trophies have become very coveted within the creative and studio communities. The show itself has a lot of energy and is a lot of fun. It is one of the best parties and networking events of the year for those in the movie business.”
If it’s energy, fun and a party, the Golden Trailers are looking for, then T.J. Miller is the perfect host. Although the Crunchies and TechCrunch’s chief operating officer Ned Desmond said that Miller wouldn’t be back for their awards show after he jokingly insulted many of the companies represented at the ceremony and several people in the audience. That included the date of Uber founder Travis Kalanick who was called a “bitch” in exchange with T.J. Miller while he was hosting.
The Golden Trailer Awards don’t take themselves too seriously. The night will have special categories including Summer Blockbuster 2015, Trashiest Trailer, Most Romantic Trailer, Best of Show and the favorite award of the night, the Golden Fleece Award. That trophy goes to “the best trailer for the film where the marketing was considered better than the film itself”.
