Letterman Getting CBS Primetime Goodbye Special


As far as David Letterman’s retirement is concerned, a late night goodbye is not enough for CBS. The network will be giving Dave a primetime send off with a 90 minute special, “David Letterman: A Life On Television”, on Monday, May 4th at 9:30pm et. The final episode of “The Late Show with David Letterman” is schedule for Wednesday, May 20th.
“David Letterman: A Life On Television” will be hosted by Ray Romano. It was his stand up appearance on Letterman back in 1995, that launched Ray Romano’s television career. That performance led to the comedian developing his hit sitcom “Everybody Love Raymond” with David Letterman’s Worldwide Pants production company.
During the special, Romano takes the audience through a retrospective of David Letterman’s television career, starting with his days as a television weatherman through his over 6000 late night shows on “Late Night” and “The Late Show”. Highlights of “David Letterman: A Life On Television” will include Dave’s interviews with Presidents, world leaders, athletes, actors, comedians and musicians. There will also be clips of some of David Letterman’s signature bits he brought to TV, featuring the Top Ten List, Stupid Pet and Human Tricks, and plenty of the stunts and biggest moments from his late night comedy career. There will also be a look at David Letterman’s return to television 6 days after the 9-11 attacks on the country.
The salute to the 16 time Emmy award winner happens Monday, May 4th at 9:30pm et with “David Letterman: A Life On Television” hosted by Ray Romano on CBS.
