Lucille Ball Statue Horrifies Fans In Her Hometown

The people Celoron, NY, just outside of Jamestown, love Lucy. And that’s why they want her statue taken down. It’s not that don’t want the comedy legend honored in her hometown. It’s because the statue is so hideous looking (see below) and bares no resemblance to Lucille Ball, they feel it disgraces her.
The statue of Lucille Ball was meant to capture one of her classic “I Love Lucy” moments when Lucy Ricardo was doing a commercial for Vitameatavegamin. But according to the town organizer who wants the statue taken down and wants to remain anonymous, it didn’t come close. He told Yahoo!, “I think it looks like a monster. That is just my opinion,” he said. “When you see it at night, it is frightening.”
He also explained why he wants it removed. “Lucille Ball was not only an amazing comedienne, but she was a stunning beauty. Her sense of humor only made her more beautiful. This statue looks nothing like the beautiful Lucy we all know. If for no other reason than that… the statue should go.”
Jamestown, New York will honor their favorite daughter again this year with the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, July 30th through August 2nd. This year’s fest will be headlined by Jerry Seinfeld, Saturday, August 1st at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena. For tickets and more information, go to LucyComedyFest.com. So far, no other acts have been announced.
