Cosby Heckler Removed From Baltimore Show

Bill Cosby’s performance Friday night at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore did not go uninterrupted. A heckler was removed from the show, but not before he was able to yell out several things at Cosby during his stand up. When his shouting started, several audience members tried to shout down the heckler, Michael M. Cook. Cosby intervened asking for the crowd to remain calm. He then told the audience that he will handle this the way he wants it handled. They gave a enthusiastic show of support Cosby.
The heckling started with Cook yelling “38 women called you a rapist!”. In a video exclusive to CityPaper.com, Cosby tells the audience he’s going to continue with more jokes while Cook replied “Tell the one about how to get away with rape” prompting a harsh audience reaction and Cosby to say “Stop it”. Cook was then taken by security from the venue.
Michael M. Cook told City Paper, “I stood up to Bill Cosby tonight because I believe the 38 women who have come forward so far to accuse him of raping them. I can’t speak for those women, but I am determined to stand up with them and tell Mr. Cosby that he cannot simply avoid answering for those crimes.” He added, “I wanted [Cosby] to have to face, even if only for a moment, that reality before security escorted me out and allowed him to retreat to the comfort and embrace of audience willing to ignore those women.”
The Baltimore Sun covered a protest of about 15 people that happened outside the Lyric from the sexual assault advocacy group “SlutWalk Baltimore” which demonstrated while ticket holders went inside to watch Bill Cosby perform.
