Damn. That racist song in Oklahoma has Will Ferrell ready to consider the death penalty for college fraternity life. While appearing at SXSW, Will took the time to answer questions from fans that were submitted to the New York Times. One question from the Times’ readers was from some fraternity brothers who mentioned that the SAE Oklahoma situation had brought out “frat haters”. They asked Will Ferrell, “Why (or why not) fraternity membership is still a worthy consideration for a college student?”

Will answered, “The incident in Oklahoma, that is a real argument for getting rid of the system altogether, in my opinion, even having been through a fraternity. Because when you break it down, it really is about creating cliques and clubs and being exclusionary.” He added, “But I think it’s an interesting dilemma for universities these days.”

Is he somehow confused that he was made head of fraternities because of his role in “Old School”? You don’t have the power Will, but yeah the idea makes total sense.

Will Ferrell will be seen this Friday, co-starring Kevin Hart in the new comedy, “Get Hard” which opens nationwide this weekend.
