North Korea Warns Against Airdropping ‘The Interview’ DVD’s

The North Korean government warned South Korean activists against airdropping 10,000 DVD copies of ‘The Interview’ from balloons. The warning said any sort of balloon drop of the movie starring James Franco and Seth Rogen would be a “de facto declaration of war”. The film featured Franco and Rogen as Americans sent to North Korea to assassinate Kim Jong Un.
The activists’ plan to get the comedy into North Korea also includes sending propaganda leaflets with anti-Kim Jong Un messages with the DVDs. There would 500,000 flyers to go along with the 10,000 DVDs reportedly scheduled for the drop on or around Thursday, March 26th. According to Yahoo, a warning came from North Korea saying, “All the firepower strike means of the frontline units of the (Korean People’s Army) will launch without prior warning… to blow up balloons”.
“The Interview” was pulled from movie theaters in the United States prior to its Christmas Day premiere because of threats against movie chains that were going to screen the comedy. It was eventually released online and other platforms by Sony, which had been the victim of an massive company email hack related to the film.
The North Korean people aren’t even familiar with Rogen and Franco’s work, mix in a few copies of ‘Pineapple Express’ for their sake.
