Sony Now Planning A Guys “Ghostbusters” Movie Too

For years, it seemed like the world would never get another “Ghostbusters” movie. Now, Sony can’t stop planning them. In addition, to the “Ghostbusters” film coming from director Paul Feig with an all female cast, the studio is planning a separate movie with a male cast.
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures is developing “Ghostcorps”, which will create a new franchise in collaboration with original “Ghostbusters” director Ivan Reitman and writer and star Dan Aykroyd. Reitman said, “We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment. This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. Paul Feig’s film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July 2016. He’s got four of the funniest women in the world, and there will be other surprises to come.” He added that he hopes this is just the beginning of what he hopes will be “a lot of wonderful movies.”
Back in February, as a guest on SiriusXM’s “Unmasked”, Dan Aykroyd told host Ron Bennington that he had written material for a traditional “Ghostbusters” film and that there were plans for it in the works after the release of Paul Feig’s film. He said, “Yeah, we’re gonna be able to use it some day. Let’s get this one made and that will reinvigorate the franchise and then we’ll go on to maybe doing a more conventional third sequel as we were planning and another idea I have for it.”
The Paul Feig version of “Ghostbusters” includes Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. The “Ghostcorps” franchise is reportedly trying to bring Channing Tatum on board in one of the lead roles.
Feig’s “Ghostbusters” begins production this Summer in NYC.
