Who Will Win The Grammy Award For Best Comedy Album Tonight? (POLL)

The 57th annual Grammy Awards are tonight on CBS. The Grammys biggest award for comedy is the Best Comedy Album award. In the past this category has been won by some of the great names in comedy including Bob Newhart, Nichols & May, Lily Tomlin, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Cheech & Chong, Steve Martin, Jonathan Winters, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, Lewis Black and Chris Rock among others.
At tonight’s Grammys, these are the nominees for Best Comedy Album.
Mandatory Fun – Weird Al Yankovic: The Weird One’s 14th studio album included parodies of Lorde’s “Royals,” Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” Pharrell William’s “Happy,” Iggy Azalea’ “Fancy” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”. It was Weird Al’s first number one album of his career.
Obsessed – Jim Gaffigan: In a salute to food, many of the tracks on “Obsessed” are snack related including commentary on donuts, hot dogs and buffalo wings and how he “Can’t Stop Eating.” Even though he’s obsessed with food, the album also has Jim’s take on things like his family life, the ridiculousness of weddings and people dealing with cancer.
Oh My God – Louis C.K.: Louis continues to look at life with both hysterical awe and bleakness at the same time. “Oh My God” talks about the simple joys of being human including our place on the food chain as compared to animals like sea lions and the pains humanity goes through like in times of divorce.
Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time – Patton Oswalt: It’s a more mature, even more subtle version of Patton Oswalt where he’s taking his time to talk about the things that bother him, which actually don’t bother him as much now that he’s gotten older, married and became a father. He talks about the insanity of Florida, the joylessness of the Germans and how a dream gig of working casino for a ton of cash isn’t such a dream job after all.
We Are Miracles – Sarah Silverman: Nothing is off limits in Sarah Silverman’s “We Are Miracles”. That includes jokes about rape which she describes as both “the most heinous crime imaginable” and “a hidden gem in comedy”. Sarah also touches on racism and white guilt, Jewish stereotypes that still persist and how God watches everyone masturbate.
Also at the Grammys, Joan Rivers is posthumously nominated for Best Spoken Word Album for the audio version of her book “Diary of a Mad Diva”. The other nominees include “Actors Anonymous” by James Franco, “A Call to Action” by Jimmy Carter, “Carsick: John Waters Hitchhikes Across America” by John Waters, “A Fighting Chance” by Elizabeth Warren and “We Will Survive: True Stories of Encouragement, Inspiration and the Power of Song” by Gloria Gaynor.
The 57th annual Grammy Awards are tonight at 8pm et on CBS.
