Can Lane Kiffin Keep Failing Up?

He got fired as head coach of the Raiders after only 5-15. After leaving the big job at Tennessee in controversy, he was head coach at USC until they fired him midseason at the airport. He’s currently the offensive coordinator at Alabama, whose play calls late in the Sugar Bowl have come into question. Along the way, he’s attempted a 76-yard FG in the NFL, broken SEC rules by mentioning a recruit’s name in a recruiting violation allegation, told Alshon Jeffery if he signed at South Carolina (which he did) he’d wind up pumping gas, received a fine for playing with deflated balls at USC, used a player wearing another player’s jersey on a two-point conversion, and been involved in further numerous incidents that have made him a running joke in college football fandom.

Despite all this, Lane’s rumored to be in the running for 49ers offensive coordinator. No one can fail up like they can in football.
