#BlackMonday: Jets Fire Both Coach Rex Ryan And GM John Idzik

rexryanWhile starting with a 4-2 postseason record with QB Mark Sanchez, Ryan had to undergo the scrutiny of the New York media, with everything from offensive gestures to “unnamed sources” to even Tim Tebow. His decision to leave in Sanchez late in a 2013 preseason game resulted in injury, and relying on rookie Geno Smith and retread Michael Vick sent the team to a 12-20 record the past two seasons.

After being hired from Seattle to fix Mike Tannenbaum’s mess, the Jets finished this season with a worse record than when he started. Under his regime, the Jets drafted Smith, signed Vick, released Sanchez, and traded away star corner Darrelle Revis.

Ryan is reportedly looking for another head coaching job rather than becoming a coordinator again, and some believe he could find work in broadcasting. The Jets, however, are expected to remain the Jets.
