Orangutan Granted Rights As A “Non-Human Person”

Argentine-court-recognizes-captive-orangutan-as-non-human-personAn Argentine court ruled that an orangutan should be freed from a Buenos Aires zoo because its rights were violated by keeping it captive. The court called the ape a “non-human person” and said it has the same rights as a human even though it’s not one. The non-human person will be transferred to a “sanctuary” in Brazil. Which is another word for “zoo for non-human persons”.
